The Gaokao, also known as the National Higher Education Entrance Examination, is a standardized test taken by students seeking admission to undergraduate programs in Chinese universities. It ranks at number 1 in the list of toughest exams in the world.

At number 2 in the list of toughest exams is the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). It is conducted annually for students seeking to take admission in undergraduate engineering programs at IITs as well as other top engineering colleges across the country.

At the third position is the UPSC exam known for its tough competition and limited success rate. The exam is held for prestigious positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other central civil services.

Apart from IIT JEE and UPSC exams conducted in India, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) also ranks at the 8th position in the toughest exams list.
The Mensa Admission Test is an intelligence test conducted by Mensa International to determine eligibility for membership in the organization. To qualify for Mensa membership, an individual must score within the top 2% of the general population on the test.

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test widely used for admissions into graduate programs in the United States and Canada and ranks at number 5 among the toughest examinations.

At number 6 is the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam, conducted by the CFA institute. It is a globally recognized certification program for professionals in the investment management industry.

At number 7, we have the Certified Cisco Internetwork Expert (CCIE) exam. It is a rigorous assessment designed to evaluate the knowledge, skills, and expertise of network engineers and IT professionals in Cisco networking technologies

The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and California Bar Exam are at 9th and 10th positions respectively. USMLE is a three-step examination program for medical licensure in the United States. The California bar exam is required for practicing law in the state.
