While the placement rate has witnessed a significant fall, the annual salary packages have reported a notable increase this year. The average annual package rose to Rs 26.45 lakh, while the median package touched Rs 20 lakh.

As per the reports, out of the total of 2,469 students who registered, 2,040 students participated in the placement process. BTech students reported a placement rate of 81.79%

For this year’s drive, IIT Bombay bagged a total of 1,422 accepted offers during the on-campus placement season.

A total of 417 companies from different sectors such as engineering, IT, consulting, finance, research and emerging technologies participated in IIT Bombay placement drive. Out of the total, around 368 of them offered jobs to participating students.

Engineering and technology companies recruited the highest number of students. This sector offered a total of 429 jobs. IT software and coding companies followed next with 316 offers during the placement drive.

A total of 65 IIT Bombay students received international offers. These job opportunities were offered by countries and regions such as Japan, Taiwan, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the United States.

From the branches of Engineering, Computer Science Engineering (CSE) emerged as the best-performing department with a total of 258 placements out of 277 students.

In its statement, IIT Bombay has mentioned that nowadays many students prefer entrepreneurship, higher studies and research opportunities instead of campus placements. Such cases are much common for PhD students as they opt for postdoctoral and research careers.
