A mentoring platform, the Mentor Circle, was launched by the Global IIT Alumni Support Group to assist SC/ST students during placement season at IITs

The program aims to address challenges faced by students from marginalised backgrounds, such as language barriers, lower confidence and less competitive marks, through skill development

The mentoring network includes over 1,000 IIT alumni and connects students with relevant mentors for placement preparation across more than 15 IITs

The support provided by the Mentor Circle includes CV writing, group discussion training, personal interview guidance, technical skill enhancement, and mock-interview slots with mentors

So far, 48 mentees have secured jobs during current placement drives, with the number expected to rise as placements continue

Last year, the group helped 140 mentees secure placements, while a previous initiative placed 20 students through off-campus efforts
