The proposal aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, to reduce academic pressure and offer subject flexibility for students

The Board’s governing body is yet to approve the plan, while implementation depends on new NCERT textbooks aligned with the updated curriculum

The framework for advanced levels may include different study material, additional exercises, or separate question papers in exams

The system aims to help students with aptitude in Science and Social Science prepare better before specialising in Class 11

Students will have a timeframe to decide between advanced or standard levels and may switch within the stipulated period

This approach is in line with the existing two-level structure followed for Mathematics, introduced in 2019-20, where difficulty levels differ but the syllabus remains the same

NCERT is expected to release more new textbooks by early 2025 to support this transition
