The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the tentative datesheet for CBSE 10th and 12th board exam 2026. The CBSE secondary and senior-secondary exam schedule for the academic year 2025-26 has been released on September 24, 2025.

From the academic year 2026, CBSE will be conducting two board exams for class 10 students. As per the latest notification, the CBSE 10th main exam will be held from February 17 to March 9, 2026 while the second exam is scheduled from May 15 to June 1, 2026.

For class 12, CBSE has scheduled the board exams from February 17 to April 9, 2026. CBSE will conclude all its exams - main examination for class 10 and 12, second exam for 10th, class 12 supplementary exams and board exams for sports students within February 17 to July 15, 2026.

The exam duration for main papers is 3 hours, however, for some practical and add-on subjects, the CBSE board exam will be of 2 hours only. All the subjects of CBSE exam 2026 are scheduled in the morning session i.e., 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM for 2 hour exams and 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM for main exams.

On the basis of the class 9 and 11 registration in 2025, this year, approximately 45 lakh candidates are expected to appear in 204 subjects across Classes X and XII from India and 26 countries abroad.

This year, CBSE has released the board exam time-table 146 days before the start of the exam compared to last year - 86 days before the exam. However, the final datesheet for the CBSE board 10th, 12th exams 2026 will be released after the schools have submitted the list of students to the board.

As per CBSE, the early release of the detailed exam schedule will help students, teachers and schools to plan their academic and other activities well in advance. Students can make long term study plans and prepare for the exams better.
