The Common Admission Test (CAT) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) are conducted for MBA admissions. Here are the key differences between them

CAT exam is conducted by IIMs for admission to MBA programs offered by Indian institutes. CAT scores are accepted in a number of top business schools in India

GMAT is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council and is one of the most widely accepted exams for admission to MBA programs worldwide

While GMAT exam is conducted for a duration of 2 hours 15 minutes, CAT exam has a slightly shorter duration of 2 hours. Both tests are computer based

CAT includes questions on Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and Data Interpretation. Meanwhile, GMAT features Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, and Verbal sections

CAT is considered to be more competitive due to limited seats in IIMs. GMAT is considered to be moderate in terms of difficulty level with a predefined syllabus

CAT is conducted once a year, usually in November. This year, the CAT exam date is November 24. Meanwhile, applicants can appear for GMAT year-round at various test centers
