CBSE introduces significant changes for Classes 10 and 12, focusing on flexibility, skill-based learning, and competency-driven assessments. Here are the major changes:

Starting 2025-26, Class 10 students have to appear for board exams twice a year, in February and April. While the Class 12 board examinations will continue to be held once a year.

CBSE adopts a 9-point grading system for both the 10th and 12th class, replacing the previous five-point scale, and offering a more refined assessment approach.

CBSE adopting skill-based education by introducing subjects like AI, Information Technology, and Computer Applications for Class 10 students.

Students can now choose skill electives like Land Transportation Associate, Electronics and Hardware, Physical Activity Trainer, and Design Thinking and Innovation.

Students failing a core subject can replace it with a passed skill-based or optional language subject for final result calculation.

Class 12 Accountancy students can now use basic, non-programmable calculators during exams, making complex calculations more manageable.

CBSE will introduce standard and advanced levels for Science and Social Science in Class 9 from 2026 and extend this two-tier change to Class 10 Board exams in 2028.
