The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) officially released the UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2026 on June 15, 2026. The UPSC CSE Prelims examination was conducted on May 24, 2026, and approximately 8,19,372 applicants appeared for the same, out of which 13,343 candidates have successfully qualified for the UPSC Mains 2026 Exam. The results can be accessed on the official website of the commission, upsc.gov.in. Those candidates who have qualified for the preliminary round will now have to appear for the UPSC CSE mains examination. Upon the completion of the entire process of prelims, mains and interview, the commission will release the list of names of the candidates selected.

The UPSC merit list consists of the names and roll numbers of the candidates who are selected for recruitment in various services covered under the UPSC CSE 2026 examination. Step 5: Candidates can use the ‘Ctrl + F’ function to search for their Roll Number in the list.
Step 6: If the candidate’s roll number appears in the PDF, then they have successfully qualified for the UPSC CSE Mains 2026.
The UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2026 will consist of the names of the candidates who are eligible to appear for the USPC CSE Mains examination, which will be conducted from August 20 to 24, 2026.

The UPSC CSE examination consists of three phases: the prelims, the mains and the interview. The UPSC mains examination consists of nine subjective papers and candidates who have qualified in the UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2026 are eligible to appear for the mains examination. Once candidates clear the UPSC CSE Mains examination, they will be eligible to appear for the last phase of the UPSC CSE process, which is the interview phase.
