UP Board Class 12th Result 2026: Passing criteria
To qualify for the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) Intermediate Examinations in 2026, students must adhere to a strict subject-wise and aggregate passing mandate. According to the established criteria,
- A student must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each individual subject to be declared successful.
- For subjects involving both theory and practical components, students are required to pass each section independently with a 33% score; this means achieving at least 23 out of 70 marks in the theory paper and 10 out of 30 marks in the practical assessment.
- For non-practical subjects, the requirement remains a straightforward 33 out of 100 marks.
It must be noted that those who fail to meet the 33% threshold in more than two subjects or fall below the “D” grade (33 to 40 marks) are generally considered ineligible for immediate clearance and may need to appear for compartment examinations.
UP Board Class 12th Result 2026: Grace marks policy
The UPMSP uses a grace mark policy for the UP Board Class 12th examinations 2026 to support students who fail to meet the passing threshold in one or two subjects. Under the 2026 guidelines, eligible candidates who fall short of the mandatory 33% passing mark may be awarded between 1 and 5 grace marks, provided they are within a marginal range of failure. This benefit is strictly reserved for “marginal cases” and is generally limited to a maximum of two subjects; students failing in three or more subjects do not qualify for grace marks and must instead repeat the academic year or appear for compartment exams.
UP Board Class 12th Result 2026: Compartment exam
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is expected to organise the 2026 Class 12th compartment examinations in July 2026. This supplementary opportunity is exclusively available to students who did not meet the passing criteria in a maximum of two subjects. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the board’s official website during the projected window of May to June 2026. The application process is conducted entirely online, requiring a registration fee of Rs 306 per candidate.
