UGC NET Exam 2025: The National Testing Agency will conclude the UGC NET application process today, May 7, 2025. The UGC application process started by the NTA on April 16, 2025. The University Grant Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to assess the eligibility of candidates for admission to PhD, appointed as Assistant Professor as well as Junior Research Fellowship. Candidates interested have to fulfill the eligibility criteria determined by UGC for the same.
The official website to submit the UGC NET application form is ugcnet.nta.ac.in. This year, the UGC NET exam will be conducted from June 21 – June 30, 2025. The last date to submit the application fees is May 8, 2025 (Till 11:59 P.M.) Candidates who successfully submitted their application form will be able to access their UGC NET 2025 admit card. UGC NET Registration 2025: Eligibility Criteria
The UGC NET 2025 eligibility is determined by the University Grants Commission and enforced by NTA. For JRF, applicants should be 30 years or younger as of the closing month of the exam, with age relaxations as follows : 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, transgender candidates, women, defense personnel, and for research experience holders; and 3 years for candidates who hold LLM degree. For the post of Assistant Professor, there is no age restriction.
Academically, candidates must hold a PG degree in the relevant subject from a UGC-recognized institution, with 55% marks for General and 50% marks for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and transgender applicants. Candidates who are expecting their PG results may apply for the exam, provided they complete their degree within 2 years of the NET result date and achieve the required marks. Candidates with a PhD degree who hold their Master’s degree before September 19, 1991, will appear for the UGC NET exam, and they will also receive a relaxation of 5%.

Reservation according to government regulations: 10% – General-EWS, 27% – OBC (NCL), 15% – SC, 7.5% – ST, and 4% – PwD.
