The University Grants Commission–National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is a national-level examination in India, administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the UGC. Its primary purpose is to assess candidates’ eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as assistant professor, and admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities and colleges. The exam is offered in 85 subjects and is recognised as one of the ten most challenging exams in the country.

UGC NET June 2025: Procedure for Declaration of Results
The UGC-NET June 2025 was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from June 25 to June 29, 2025. NTA released the provisional UGC NET June 2025 Answer Key on July 5, 2025, and with the objection window closing on July 8, 2025. The NTA UGC NET Result 2025 announced on July 21, 2025.
Display of Provisional Answer Key:
After the examination, NTA releases the provisional answer key and recorded responses. Candidates are given an opportunity to challenge the answer key within a stipulated time frame.
Evaluation Process:
The final answer key is prepared after considering all valid challenges. The evaluation of candidates’ responses is then carried out using the final answer key.
Result Compilation:
The UGC NET June 2025 exam is conducted in multiple shifts and sessions. To ensure fairness, the NTA uses a normalization procedure based on percentile scores. This method accounts for differences in difficulty levels across various shifts.
Declaration of Results:
The results are declared on the official NTA website. Only those candidates who meet the minimum qualifying criteria are declared qualified for eligibility as Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
UGC NET June 2025: Criteria for Qualification
NTA prescribes the given minimum qualifying marks for the UGC-NET examination.

A merit list is prepared based on the aggregate performance of candidates in both papers. The top 6% of candidates who appear in both papers and score at least the minimum qualifying marks are declared NET qualified. UGC NET June 2025: How is rank determined?
The rank in UGC NET June 2025 is determined through a normalization process that converts raw scores from multiple exam shifts into percentile scores, ensuring fairness by adjusting for variations in difficulty across sessions. These percentile scores from both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are then aggregated to form the final score, which is used to prepare the merit list and decide qualification status.

Preparation of Merit List:
The merit list is based on the aggregate percentile scores of both Paper 1 and Paper 2. There is no separate rank; instead, candidates are declared qualified or not qualified based on their percentile and aggregate performance.
Tie-Breaking Policy:
If two or more candidates obtain the same percentile score, they are treated as having the same rank. The NTA does not specify any additional tie-breaking criteria beyond percentile calculation.
