The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the UGC NET December 2025 notification. Once the registration window opens, candidates can log in to the official website to submit their applications. As per previous trends, the UGC NET December registration will begin in September-October 2025. However, the official dates for the December cycle have not yet been published. Online form completion, document uploading, and fee payment will be part of the registration process.
The UGC NET Exam for the December session will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. There will be two papers for the exam– Paper I and Paper II. A total of 150 questions will be in the exam paper, 50 questions in paper I and 100 questions in paper II. The exam will contain multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Candidates who are interested can fill out the UGC NET Application form as soon as it is released on the official website.

UGC NET December 2025 Eligibility Criteria
The UGC NET eligibility criteria is categorised into three parts: 1) Nationality; 2) Educational Eligibility; 3) Age limit. Candidates can check all three of the eligibility criteria below:
National Eligibility
Since only Indian citizens are eligible to sit in the UGC NET exam, nationality is a crucial eligibility requirement. Foreign nationals are not eligible to apply for the UGC NET exam 2025. Additionally, candidates who are Indian citizens living in foreign can apply for the test.
Educational Eligibility
- Candidates who possess a master’s degree can apply for the UGC NET exam.
- Candidates should have completed their post-graduation from a UGC-recognised college/university. Minimum marks for General Category is 55% and for reserved categories including SC/ST/OBC/PwD is 50% marks.
- Candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002, are exempted from taking the UGC NET exam.
Age Limit
- In the UGC NET exam, there is no upper age limit to appear for the professorship exam, whereas for the post of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship), the candidates must be below or equal to 30 years of age.
- Candidates should not be more than 30 years of age to be eligible for NET JRF as of June 1, 2025.
- There is no age restriction to applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
- relaxation of five years in age criteria is given to reserved category candidates.
On September 12, 2025, NTA released the UGC NET June 2025 certificate on the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in, qualifying candidates can download their certificates. Eligibility for Ph.D., Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor admittance requires the certificate. The results of the UGC NET June 2025 exam, which took place from June 24, 2025 to June 29, 2025, were released on July 21, 2025. The UGC NET examination will be conducted in computer-based mode (CBT) for the December session.
