The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the subject-wise schedule for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC–NET) 2026 examination on June 6, 2026 at its official exam website. The UGC NET 2026 exam will be conducted online in a computer-based test (CBT) mode. According to the official schedule, the exam will start from June 22, 2026 and will end on June 30, 2026, for different subjects. Candidates who have successfully registered for the UGC NET 2026 can check the official schedule on the official website of NTA – ugcnet.nta.nic.in. As per the official notification released by the authority, the city intimation slip for the NTA UGC NET Exam 2026 will be released 8 to 10 days before the scheduled UGC NET 2026 Exam.
As per the official UGC NET 2026 Subject-wise Exam Schedule, the UGC NET Exam 2026 will be held in two shifts – Morning Shift (09:00 AM to 12:00 PM) and Afternoon Shift (03:00 PM to 06:00 PM) each day. Candidates can download the city intimation slip and the UGC NET Admit Card 2026 from the official website – ugcnet.nta.nic.in., once it is released online by the authority. Candidates who want to appear for the exam are advised to download their admit cards as soon as they are available and verify all details, including exam centre city, shift timings and subject code, before their scheduled examination date to avoid any last-minute hassle.

The exam will start with the subjects – Visual Art, Museology and Conservation, Geography, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Labour Welfare and Personnel Management in Shift I on June 22, 2026. The UGC will conduct the last exam on June 30, 2026.
UGC NET 2026: Know the Exam Pattern
All the candidates who are appearing for the exam this year can refer to the following points, which will provide an overall idea about the UGC NET 2026 Exam Pattern.
- The UGC NET June 2026 exam will be conducted for 3 hours for each subject.
- The UGC NET exam comprises two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2.
- Both papers have multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- The Paper 1 pattern remains common for all subjects that are included in the NET exam 2026.
- Paper 1 includes 50 multiple-choice questions that aim to assess the teaching and research aptitude, general knowledge, reasoning, data interpretation, communication, ICT, environment, and higher education system topics, carrying 100 marks.
- Paper 2 has subject-specific 100 multiple-choice questions based on the candidate’s chosen postgraduate subject, carrying 200 marks.
