The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Tamil Nadu, released the TNEA Rank List 2026 on July 1. Candidates can access the TNEA Rank List 2026 on the official online portal, tneaonline.org. A total of 2,45,235 candidates applied for TNEA 2026. Students whose names are missing from the published rank list or who find any discrepancies can submit their grievances till July 6. The TNEA 2026 rank list is prepared based on the total scaled marks out of 200. The total marks are reduced to 200 and become the overall marks for ranking candidates. Maximum weightage will be from Mathematics, followed by shared weightage between Physics and Chemistry.
TNEA 2026 Counselling includes registration & certificate upload by candidates, followed by allotment of random numbers, verification, release of the TNEA Rank List 2026, choice filling, seat allotment, confirmation of allotment, reporting to College/TFC and lastly, payment of fees. The process is completely online, except for the certificate verification process. The registration for the TNEA Counselling Process 2026 was conducted from May 3 till June 5, 2026. The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) takes place once a year, every year with a total of 539 participating colleges in 2026.

TNEA 2026 Rank List: Know about the next process
The TNEA Rank List 2026 was released on July 1, 2026. Candidates who qualify can now show up for the counselling rounds. The TNEA Counselling 2026 includes online choice filling by the candidates, allotment of seats, seat allotment confirmation, downloading the provisional allotment letter and reporting to the allotted institute within the given timeframe. The marks that applicants received in their Class 12 are used to create the TNEA rank list or merit list.
The first step after the rank list is released is to register for the TNEA counselling process on the official website. Following this, candidates are also required to pay the counselling fee. The category-wise counselling fee is Rs 5000 for general category and Rs 1000 for SC/ST/SCA/Tamil Nadu candidates. After payment of the counselling fee, candidates are required to fill in their choice preferences; this needs to be done online. Once the form is submitted, candidates will be allotted a random 10-digit number, which will help break the tie between two or more candidates.
After this, the TNEA Seat Allotment List 2026 will be made available online. Candidates must submit all the required documents and get them verified within the due time. Candidates have the option of accepting the seat or giving it up to take part in the subsequent round of the seat allocation process. Candidates must report to their designated institute or college after receiving confirmation of their seat if they wish to accept the seat.
