NTA issues Important Advisory on JEE Main 2026 Exam Day Guidelines: Check reporting guidelines, dress code, marking scheme

NTA has released an important advisory and instructions for candidates appearing in JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam scheduled on January 21, 22, 23 & 24, 2026.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory and instructions for the candidates appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. The JEE Main 2026 session 1 admit card has been released by the examination body on the official website for the exam scheduled on January 21, 22, 23 & 24, 2026. Candidates are advised to check the following details, such as date of examination, shift and timings of the test, venue of test, reporting time at the centre and lastly gate closing time of the centre as indicated on the admit card thoroughly before appearing for the exam.

Aspirants appearing for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam are advised to visit the examination centre in advance so that they are familiarised with the location and means of reaching the examination centre on time on the day of the exam. As per the notice, candidates were provided with an option to register for the exam through Aadhar, those candidates who did not register through Aadhar will need to report at least one hour early on the day of the examination to get their biometrics recorded at the exam centre.

Applicants who will be appearing for the JEE Main Session 1 exam 2026 must check the mentioned guidelines below to know how to conduct themselves on the examination day:

  • Candidates must report at the exam centre as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card to complete several pre-examination formalities. Those who will report beyond the gate closing time they will not be allowed to enter the test centre.
  • Candidates must carry at least two passport size photograph (same as the one uploaded on the application form) with them on the exam day.
  • The digital copy of the valid Photo ID Proof will not be accepted by the organising body. Candidates must carry physical/hard copy of their ID proof, without it aspirants will not be allowed to enter the exam centre.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry Instrument like Geometry/ Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Ear Phone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder etc. in the examination hall.
  • Students with diabetes will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets/fruits and transparent water bottles to the examination room.
  • Candidates must drop their duly-filled admit card, once completed with the exam in the designated drop box before leaving the exam hall. If any candidate fails to do so then it may result in non-evaluation of their answers.
  • Aspirants who are sikh they are permitted to wear their articles such as kara and kirpan.

JEE Main Exam 2026 Session 1: Subject-Wise Marking Scheme

Candidates can check the marking scheme for different sections from below:

  • Section A consist of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects, which contains 20 questions for each subject. Each correct answer will be rewarded four marks and one mark will be deducted if the answer is wrong.
  • Section B contains five questions of each subject that must be attempted. The maximum marks of this section is 20. Foe every correct answer candidates will be given four marks and for every incorrect response one mark will be deducted.
  • The Aptitude Test consist of 50 questions and each question have four options out of which only one of the option is correct. This test is for 200 marks. If the answer is correct candidates will be awarded four marks and if the answer is incorrect then one mark will be deducted.
