NEET UG 2025 Exam Pattern: Take a look at the revised NEET pattern

NEET UG Exam Pattern 2025: NTA has announced the discontinuation of the optional section from NEET UG question paper. The NEET paper will be designed as per the pre-COVID format now.

NEET UG 2025 Exam Pattern has been revised by the National Testing Agency. This year, NTA has announced the changes in the NEET UG exam pattern. As per the information released, the question paper pattern for NEET UG has been reverted to the pre-COVID regulations. The clarifications shared by NTA mention that there will not be any Section B in the paper anymore.

The Section B in NEET UG exam was introduced during the COVID period. This section consisted of optional questions along with an extra duration of 20 minutes. With the removal of this section, the exam duration for NEET UG 2025 will be 3 hours or 180 minutes. 

NEET UG Revised Exam Pattern 2025

The NEET UG exam pattern has been revised for the upcoming session. Based on the revisions made by the NTA, the exam duration is now 180 minutes (3 hours). Check revisions made by NTA below:

The NEET UG exam is conducted in a total of 13 different languages. Appearing candidates can opt for the question paper in any of the following 13 languages:

Marking scheme for NEET UG 2025

While NTA has announced the removal of the optional section from NEET UG exam pattern, there are no revisions announced in the marking scheme for the same. The following marking scheme for NEET UG is followed by the NTA:

  • For each correct answer: +4 marks will be awarded
  • For each incorrect answer: -1 mark will be deducted
  • For each unanswered question: 0 mark
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then four marks will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then four marks will be awarded to only those who have attempted the question.
  • If none of the options are correct or the question is found to be incorrect or a question is dropped from the paper then four marks will be awarded to all candidates who appeared in the examination irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not. 

The marking scheme will be helpful once the NEET UG answer key is released. Candidates will be able to calculate their marks based on the above given marking criteria for NEET UG.
