The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling 2026 will start from June 2, 2026. Candidates who have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam can register themselves on the official website.

With the announcement of the JEE Advanced result 2026 by the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling 2026 is set to begin from June 2, 2026. Every year, JoSAA conducts the admission process for over 120 technical institutions in the country. Candidates can register themselves at the official website – josaa.nic.in, once the counselling process begins. The JoSAA counselling includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and several Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). In the JEE Advanced Result 2026 that was declared on May 31, Shubham Kumar secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 with 330 marks, while Kabeer Chhillar secured AIR 2 with 329 marks.

Candidates who are willing to register for the JoSAA Counselling 2026 are advised to check the JEE Advanced cutoff 2026 and submit their preferences accordingly. Candidates should be aware that only those candidates who have scored above the JEE Advanced 2026 cutoff will be able to participate in the counselling process. The JoSAA counselling process has various steps, such as registration, choice filling, mock seat allotment, final seat allocation, fee payment and confirmation, document verification, and finally reporting to the allotted institute. This year, 1,87,389 candidates had registered for the JEE Advanced exam 2026; out of these, only 56000 students have qualified for the JoSAA 2026 counselling.

JoSAA 2026 Counselling: Counselling Process

The JoSAAA counselling process involves various steps as mentioned below-

  • Registration: Candidates who have qualified can register for the counselling process using their credentials.
  • Choice Filling: Candidates will be asked to fill in their choice of preferences for course, branch and institute. Candidates are advised to check the cutoff before choice filling.
  • Seat Allotment:  Seats will be allotted to candidates based on their rank. Candidates will have the choice of either accepting their allotted seats or decline it. Candidates will have three opportunities to exercise their choice: Seat Float, Freeze, and Slide.
  • Reporting to Allotted College: When the seat is allotted, candidates will need to report to the Zonal IIT. For document verification and submission of the admission fee, all candidates must be physically present.
  • Provisional Admission: When a candidate has paid the fee and verified all of their documents, he/she will be given provisional admission. The final allotment letter from the respective college will also be given to the students.
