This year, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will be conducting the JEE Advanced 2026 exam. The IIT Roorkee has officially announced the JEE Advanced 2026 exam date on the official website. The JEE Advanced 2026 exam is set to be conducted on May 17, 2026. The detailed notification for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be released soon on the official website – jeeadv.ac.in. Candidates who will qualify JEE Main session 1 or session 2 exam will be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam.
IIT Roorkee has also released 5 eligibility criteria framework that the candidates have to fulfil in order to be considered eligible for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 exam. As per the latest eligibility, aspirants must have a rank under top 2.5 lakh in JEE Mains, and must be born before October 1, 2001. Candidates who cleared the class 12th in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the year 2026 or 2025 are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced exam.

JEE Advanced 2026 Exam: Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants must fulfil all the 5 JEE Advanced 2026 Eligibility Criteria issued by the IIT Roorkee mentioned below to be considered eligible for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam:
Criterion A1 – Performance in JEE (Main) 2026
Under the criterion A1, candidates must be among 2,50,00 successful candidates across all the categories in B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE Main 2026 exam. The category-wise percentage to shortlist for JEE Advanced 2026 is as follows: 10% GEN–EWS, 27% OBC–NCL, 15% SC, 7.5 % ST and the remaining 40.5% is open for all, with 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates within each of the 5 categories.

OCI/PIO (I) candidates are not eligible for any kind of reservation benefits except under OPEN-PwD.
Criterion A2: Age Limit
To be considered eligible, candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001. A five-year age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e. these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1996.
Criterion A3: Number of Attempts
Any candidate can attempt JEE Advanced exam a maximum of 2 times in two consecutive years.
Criterion A4: Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) Examination
Candidates should have appeared for the class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects. Candidates who appeared for the class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2024 or before are not eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2026 exam.
Criterion A5: Earlier Admission in IITs
Candidates are not eligible if they have been admitted to an IIT under any academic program that is listed in JoSAA Business Rules or accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” / at a “reporting centre” in the past. Also, if any candidate had their admission cancelled after joining the IIT are also not eligible for the JEE Advanced 2026.
