The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have announced an extension of the CAT 2025 registration deadline to September 20, 2025. Earlier scheduled to close on September 13, the registration window will now remain open until 5:00 PM on the extended date.
CAT 2025 Convener and IIM Kozhikode faculty member, Prof. PN Ram Kumar, said the decision was taken in response to requests from MBA aspirants. This extension will provide all interested candidates with an adequate opportunity to complete their CAT 2025 applications.
CAT 2025 Exam Schedule and Details

- Registration began on August 1, 2025, and will now close on September 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
- CAT 2025 will be held on November 30, 2025 (Sunday) in three sessions.
- The exam will be conducted in approximately 170 cities across the country, with candidates allowed to select five preferred test centres.
The IIMs clarified that once a centre is allotted, no changes will be permitted. In cases of high demand, candidates may be assigned centres close to their chosen options.
CAT 2025 Application Form Edit Window
Registered applicants for the CAT 2025 exam will be provided with a brief editing window after the registration period closes. During this period, they will be allowed to modify only limited details — photograph, signature, and test city preferences — provided they have successfully completed the registration and fee payment.
Exam Pattern and Duration for CAT exam 2025
The two-hour exam will have three sections:
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
- Quantitative Ability
The IIMs have advised aspirants to complete their registrations well in advance of the deadline to avoid last-minute issues. Authorities also stressed that the new deadline of September 20 will not be extended further under any circumstances.
