GATE 2026 Exam on Feb 7: Check exam day instructions, shift timings, dress code guidelines 

The GATE 2026 exams will begin on February 7, 2026. There are a total of 30 exams, but students can appear for only 1 or 2 of them. The students must follow the instructions on the official website and are advised to reach the exam centre earlier to avoid any delays. They must carry a transparent water bottle and a transparent pencil kit. The GATE 2026 exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15.

On February 7, 2026, the timings of the GATE 2026 Exam for the test papers: AE, ES, GG, IN, MA, MN, TF, XE, XL will be 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and for the test papers: AE, BT, CH, CY, GE, PH, XH will be 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The students who have to appear for any of the above-mentioned papers must check their schedule carefully.

The students must take care of certain things while appearing for the GATE 2026 exams and remember them before going to the exam centre. Here are the Guidelines: 

• The candidate must carry their GATE 2026 Admit Card and any original ID proof with them. These are the important documents, and no entry will be given without them. 
• The candidate must also carry a passport-sized photograph with them. Also, the photograph must be the same as on the admit card. 
• Carrying calculators, smart watches, phones, belts, Jewellery, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and any kind of study material is strictly prohibited. 
• The candidates are advised to wear flip flops and avoid wearing shoes. 
• Wearing simple clothes is recommended, which have no metal or other metal-like materials. 
• The student must carry a transparent water bottle and a transparent pencil kit. 
• As the exam is of 3-hour duration, the student must be in the hall for that whole period and cannot leave before the time.
• The candidate must cooperate with the staff and go directly to the allotted room.
• The candidates are also advised to read the instructions on the question paper carefully.
• It is advised that the candidate must reach the exam centre at least 30 min before the time of the exam.

The students must follow the instructions and keep everything ready beforehand to avoid the last-minute panic.
