The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) answer key will be released in the last week of February 2025 (Tentatively – based on past trends). The GATE answer key 2025 will be activated at the official website gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The GATE examination 2025 was conducted on February 1, 2, 15 and 16, 2025 in different cities. Once the GATE 2025 examination is completed, the response sheet and provisional answer key will be released by the authority on the website.
Candidates can submit their challenges against the GATE answer key within the date announced by the authority. The answer key challenge fee is INR 500 per question. Candidates can raise objections only when they are sure about the answer to the question. The authority will check the objections raised by the candidates and then release the final GATE answer key 2025. Once the GATE 2025 final answer key is released by the authority, then it also will announce the GATE Result 2025 on March 19, 2025.

GATE Answer Key 2025 – Marking Scheme
IIT Roorkee has released the marking scheme for the GATE exam 2025. The marking scheme specifies the marks that candidates will get for correct and incorrect answers. The authority will deduct ⅓ marks for 1 marks MCQs and deduct ⅔ marks for 2 marks MCQs. Candidates can check the detailed marking scheme in the information brochure released by the authority.

GATE Marking Scheme for General Aptitude
In all papers, General Aptitude (GA) carries 15 marks. Five questions with one mark each (sub-total – 5 marks) and five questions with two marks each (sub-total – 10 marks) are included in the GA section.
GATE Marking Scheme for Papers other than AR, GE, GG, XE, XH and XL
These papers involve 25 questions and each carries 1 mark (sub-total 25 marks) and 30 questions contain 2 marks (sub-total 60 marks). These papers also include some objective questions, while others may be MSQ and/or NAT questions.
GATE Marking Scheme for XE
In the GATE XE paper, Candidates have to answer following things;
- General Aptitude contains 15 marks.
- Section A – (Compulsory) Engineering Mathematics: Section A involves 11 questions carrying 15 marks: 7 questions involving 1-mark each (sub-total 7 marks), and 4 questions carrying 2-marks each (sub-total 8 marks). Here, some are MCQ type, while others may be MSQ or NAT questions.
- Any two of XE Sections B to H: After checking the questions, the choice of two sections from B to H can be made during exams. Candidates only answered two optional sections at a time. To change an optional section during the exam, candidates need to change the earlier chosen section (B to H). Each section contains 22 questions which carry 35 marks. In these questions, some are MCQs, MSQs and NAT questions. The chosen section will be deleted after the candidate confirms.
GATE Marking Scheme for AR
Apart from the General Aptitude (GA), the question paper includes two parts; Part A (60 marks) and Part B (25 marks). Part A is compulsory and Part B contains two parts – Part B1 (Architecture) and Part B2 (Planning). Candidates can either choose part B1 or B2 of part B.
In part A, there are a total of 39 questions carrying 60 marks – 18 questions carrying 1-mark each (subtotal 18 marks) and 21 questions carrying 2-marks each (sub-total 42 marks). In the question paper, some are MCQ questions while some are MSQ or NAT questions. Both sections Part B [Part B1 (Architecture) and Part B2 (Planning)] involve 16 questions carrying 25 marks. Some are MCQ and some are MSQ or NAT-based questions.
GATE Answer Key 2025 Download
The GATE Answer key is likely to be released on February 21, 2025. The authority will declare the answer key for the GATE exam 2025 on the official website. Candidates can check their answer key by using their login credentials. Once the answer key is released by the authority, candidates can raise objections against the answer key.
