The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2026, scheduled on Saturday, May 30, 2026, was interrupted by a major technical failure, which left 3,765 candidates stranded at various test centres across India. While many students stated that instead of reaching the exam centres on time, they were asked to wait for nearly 2 hours after which the CUET UG 2026 Exam was declared cancelled due to technical issues, the National Testing Agency (NTA) later issued a statement on its X account claiming that the CUET UG 2026 Shift 1 was delayed on Saturday due to severe system glitches. Not knowing that the exam would be hindered because of system glitches, many students had completed their biometric registration and entered the exam hall.
In its recent post on X, NTA acknowledged the trouble caused to students due to disruptions in the CUET UG 2026 exam conduction and informed that the agency will conduct re-examination for 3,765 candidates who completed biometric registration but chose to leave before the exam started again. TCS iON, the technical service provider was asked to carry out a root-cause analysis. As per NTA, about 95% of the candidates successfully completed their exam after the issue was resolved. Students who could not appear for the exam on May 30, 2026 will be notified about the revised date and other exam details separately.

- The CUET 2026 Exam Shift 1 in many cities across India was disrupted due to technical glitches reported from the service provider’s end.
- The exam, which was scheduled to begin at 09:00 AM on May 30, was delayed by 2 hours. Many students who completed their biometric registration returned without appearing for the exam due to the delay.
- The CUET 2026 Exam Shift 2 timings were also disturbed due to the delay in the conduction of the Morning shift. The reporting time was revised to 02:30 PM, while the examination commenced at 04:00 PM instead of 03:00 PM.
- NTA will soon reconduct the CUET Exam 2026 for all 3,765 candidates who were affected by the technical failure.
- Later that day, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), K. Krithivasan, issued an official statement on the company’s X account, regretting the inconvenience caused to students due to a technical issue and reassuring them that the technical team is monitoring all systems closely.
