The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the CBSE Class 12th Result 2026 on its official website on May 13. The results were uploaded on the official websites – cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in, cbseresults.nic.in. With the declaration of the result, the CBSE Class 12th Compartment Exam 2026 dates have also been announced by the board. The supplementary examinations for students will be held on July 15, 2026. The supplementary examination will be held on single day. This year, a total of 1,63,800 students have been placed in the compartment category for CBSE Class 12 this year.
CBSE will conduct two types of exams after the declaration of CBSE Class 12th Result 2026: the CBSE Class 12th Compartment Exam 2026 and the improvement examination. Compartment examination is for students who were unable to clear the exam and have been put into the compartment category. The improvement exam is for those students who were declared to pass but want ot improve their score. This year, the overall passing percentage has been 85.20%, whereas the gender wise pass percentage has been 88.86% for girls and 82.13% for boys. Along with the official website, students can check their CBSE Class 12th Result 2026 on the DigiLocker website and mobile application, UMANG portal, IVRS system and from the SMS service. The board has not published any list of toppers to avoid unnecessary pressure on the students.
CBSE Class 12th Compartment Exam 2026: Schedule and eligibility
- The CBSE board will begin the submission process for the List of Candidates (LOC) submission from June 2, 2026.
- The LOC list is the process through which students who wish to apply for the improvement of compartment examination fill their candidature.
- CBSE has made it clear that the LOC must be filled in online mode and once the submission is finalised no changes will be permitted once the submission is finalised.
- The date of examination is July 15, 2026
CBSE Class 12th Supplementary exam 2026: Eligibility for the examination
CBSE has clarified three eligibility criteria for the CBSE compartment examination that is scheduled on July 15:
Performance Improvement: This category is for those students who were declared to pass Class 12 in 2026 but want to improve their performance in any one subject.
Compartment Candidates: Students who appeared in the 2026 exams and were placed in the compartment category.
Compartment Candidates: Students from the 2025 session who are using their final of three opportunities to clear the compartment.
CBSE Class 12th Supplementary exam 2026: How to apply for the compartment exam
Students can follow the following steps to apply for the compartment exams-
Step 1: Visit the official CBSE website of the CBSE Board- cbse.gov.in
Step 2: Now, you have to click on the “Class 12 Compartment Examination 2026” link
Step 3: Provide the necessary details such as the school number and roll number
Step 4: Upload the required documents such as photograph, etc., and click on upload button.
Step 5: Pay the application fee and click on the submit button.
