The CBSE class 10th and 12th Board exam 2026 has begun from today, February 17, 2026. The exam is conducted in more than 8000 exam centres within India. The Class 10th students are having the Mathematics (Basic & Standard) exam, and the Class 12th students are having Entrepreneurship, Biotechnology, and Shorthand exams today. The exams began at 10:30 AM, but the entry gates were closed by 10 AM, so the students had to reach the exam centre early.

For the CBSE Class 10th and12th Board Exam 2026, the number of students appearing for Class 10 board exam 2026 is 25,08,319 for 83 subjects at 8075 centres, and for Class 12 board exam 2026 is 18,59,551 for 120 subjects at 7574 centres. The number of male candidates who are appearing for Class 10th is 14,08546, and for Class 12th is 10,27,552, and the number of female candidates who are appearing for Class 10th is 10,99,773, and for Class 12th is 8,31,999. Also, from this year onwards, the exam will be conducted twice for class 10th students, and it is mandatory for the students to appear for the phase 1 exam.

CBSE Class 10th, 12th Board Exam 2026: Reporting Guidelines 

The students must follow the guidelines to ensure a smooth entry for CBSE Class 10th and 12th Board Exam 2026. Here are the instructions that must be followed:

  • The students are advised to reach the centre an hour before the exam time, as the exam time is 10:30 AM and the entry gate will be closed by 10 AM.
  • The students must carry the admit card along with them. Without the hard copy of the admit card, no entry will be provided. 
  • The students must also carry their school ID cards along with them. 
  • The students must carry only a transparent bottle and a transparent pencil kit. 
  • The candidate must not carry any Bluetooth device, smart watch, or study material along with them to the exam centre.
  • The students are advised to be in proper uniform and must abide by the rules and instructions given by the staff at the centre. 

The students must make sure that they follow the instructions properly and follow the above guidelines. 

CBSE Board Exam 2026: Major Changes Announced

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made major changes for Class 10th and 12th students that are beginning from 2026 onwards.

CBSE Class 10th Exam 2026 

  •  The class 10th board exams will be held twice a year.
  •  The students will have to compulsorily appear for the first phase of the exam. 
  •  Class 10th students, if failing to appear for the first phase of the exam, will not be able to appear for the second phase of the exam and will come in the essential repeat category. 
  • The students who appeared for the phase 1 exam can appear for the phase 2 exam as well, but can improve the marks for a maximum of 3 subjects only.

CBSE Class 12th Exam 2026

  • The Class 12th copies will be checked through the On-Screen Marking System. 
  • Now, students will be evaluated digitally, which will make the correction faster and hence the results might be declared early.
  • This system would also ensure that all pages are properly checked and would also reduce the errors while checking the answer sheets. 
  • The students must be mindful while appearing for the exam and are advised to do the questions in the same order as in the question paper.
