CAT 2025 is knocking at the door. The countdown has begun, and the excitement as well as apprehension is in the air. It is time to sharpen and fine-tune your skills. Revision, mock tests, analyses – must all be underway in full swing.
Students must utilise the days in the run-up to CAT 2025 in the best possible way. Smart and comprehensive preparation will make a positive difference to a candidate’s exam performance. Concept clarity, question selection, and time management form the pillars of preparation. Added to these is the fourth pillar – a composed and confident mindset.
Make Mock Tests Your Superpower: Analyse, Adapt, Improve
Your passion, practice, and perseverance will help you achieve your goal. Calm the butterflies in your stomach and arm yourself with the confidence that regular and focused practice can give. Make sure to take the mock tests in the time slot as per your admit card. This will help enhance your performance on the actual CAT day. In the last leg of your preparation, revise the basics of each topic. This will help you choose and prioritise the questions to attempt.
Time management will help you increase the number of attempts while not compromising on accuracy. Pure guesswork is a big no-no. Even for the TITA (type in the answer) questions, take your time before you mark an answer – do not take them lightly if you are investing time in them. Intelligent guesswork can work if you are short of time, as there is no negative marking for these non-MCQ-based questions.

Fine-Tune Your CAT 2025 Strategy
By this time, you must have worked on different test-taking strategies and zeroed in on one. It is useful to keep in mind that you cannot lock one strategy. Keep an open mind and be ready to switch to a new plan of action. Be ready to dynamically change time allocations within the section based on the difficulty level of the questions.

CAT Exam 2025: Revise Basics, Revisit Full-length Mock Tests
You must revisit the full-length mocks you have already taken and analysed. Invest time in going through the learnings through the analyses. This will prove to be invaluable. Do pay attention to all three sections – the strong one to help maximise your score, the weak one to plug the holes in your performance. The full-length mocks will introduce aspirants to a variety of questions of varying difficulty levels, as can be seen in the CAT exam.
Essential Pre-Exam Checklist: Documents, Test Centre, Timing
CAT 2025 is around the corner. With the exam scheduled for November 30, 2025, candidates must keep all necessary documents ready. The basic checklist: printout of the admit card with the same photograph pasted as the one uploaded in the CAT 2025 application form, identification document, and any special declaration. Check the CAT 2025 test centre and plan how to reach there. Be at the centre much before the required time. Keep out the din from social media.
On the CAT 2025 exam day, ensure that you scan the questions before attempting any section. Make sure to go for the low-hanging fruit and not spend precious time getting stuck on a difficult question. Cut your losses and move on. Be ready to dynamically change time allocations within the sections based on the difficulty level of the questions.

CAT 2025: Section-Wise Strategy
Let us look at the sections individually. The VARC section is rightly said to be a game-changer. Critical reading with a calm mind is the key to the Reading Comprehension part. Focus on keywords as clues. Comprehend the questions carefully – they may have many layers. This makes it easy to eliminate options. The para-based questions should be tackled logically, keeping the idea-flow in mind.
The Data Interpretation part can be quite tricky. The key here is to choose the sets to attempt very wisely. Your practice of an assortment of sets and the understanding of how to differentiate the chaff from the grain will hold you in good stead. The Logical Reasoning questions should be attempted astutely. A reminder here- to spend some time understanding the sets/questions in this section before you start answering.
The Quantitative Ability section comes at the end of the exam, but candidates must always be prepared for surprise changes in the exam format. This section, in the last few years, has had a spattering of questions from various topics, with arithmetic being in the limelight. Do a scan of the section and work on easy or doable questions first. Then go for the moderate ones. If time permits, go for the others from the topics that are your strong areas.
